If I Love You More...
I wrote this in my journal, written a few years prior to meeting my spouse:
The Lord knows the desires of my heart. He has a plan to make those desires come true in the best way possible. In the meantime, I must become the type of woman that a man with the qualities I desire in a husband is looking for.
I know something now that I did not back then, when I was still single. Married women need to keep on becoming the type of woman that a man of godly character would look for. Hopefully your spouse is that “man of godly character.” If not, or if so; we can think of that perfect man of godly character as Jesus. Just because we are married, does not mean that our spiritual growth stops; but rather, the bar has been raised. We need to continue to flourish and grow into the type of woman described in Proverbs 31, a wife of noble character; because it is the faithful thing to do.
So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less?
2 Corinthians 12:15 (NIV)
This verse is in context of Paul speaking to the church of Corinth. But, what if God asked you this question, “If I love you more, will you love me less?” in regards to the blessing of your spouse? Even though we all fall short, we must strive to live up to the standard of women of godly character.
