The Brilliance of Christ

There is a story in the book of Ezekiel, Chapter 23, about the folly of two sisters who are sisters, Oholah (Samaria) and Oholibah (Israel.) Here, the Lord compares two idolatrous nations to sister prostitutes.

Yikes, prostitutes! You may be thinking. Yes, prostitutes. In this parable, the Lord equates and compares prostitution to idolatry.

Ezekiel 23:49 You will be fully repaid for all your prostitution- your worship of idols.

What is an idol? Anything placed ahead of, prioritized before, or time-wise monopolized; in advance of God. The word "placed" describes the position of something in relation to its rival. Think about the olympics. Athletes compete against their rivals, in hopes to win the gold.

What are the rivals in your life?

Good or bad; what people, pleasures, and activities reoccur in your life on a daily basis?

Let's start with people.

My husband is someone that I see, speak to, and embrace each day.

Coffee, Diet Coke, my big green chair, getting my nails done, long showers; and yes, I am guilty- social media.

Reading, Writing, Website Creation, Exercise, Walking my dog, any Outdoor Activity.

Consider the people, pleasures, and activities in your life. We must make firm choices and small sacrifices to advance our time spent with Christ each day. His essence will enhance the cut, color, clarity, and carat of our blessings and joy in life.
